Hsin Hsiao Ling

Internationally renowned erhu performer, Sin Sze-Lim, is the leader of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. She was named one of Hong Kong’s Top Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2004 and is an honorary consultant of the Education University of Hong Kong. She also serves as a tutor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, as well as a director of the “Central Conservatory of Music Hong Kong Foundation”. From 1994 to 2015, she held the position of principal erhu in the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.

Sin Sze-Lim graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a High Distinction in 1988 and joined the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra in the same year. In 1989, she received the first music scholarship from the “Edward Youde Memorial Foundation” and enrolled in the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

She began performing publicly at the age of six and held her first solo erhu concert at the Hong Kong City Hall at the age of fifteen. Sin has been active on the global art stage as a soloist. She has been invited to perform as a guest soloist with professional ensembles in China, Taiwan, and Macau. Additionally, she has been invited by EMI Records to release several personal albums. Sin has participated in numerous celebrations for the return of Hong Kong and Macau and was invited by Radio Television Hong Kong to be a resident performer in Taiwan, where she held several live solo concerts. In 2002, she founded the “China Music Promotion Association” and organized over five hundred charitable events. In 2003, she established the “Sin Sze-Lim Art Center” to promote Chinese music and nurture the younger generation. In 2015, she was invited to participate in exchange activities at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. She has also been invited by the Chinese Musicians Association to serve as a judge for the “Jin Lu Sheng” Chinese National Instrumental Music Competition. In 2018, she was invited to be the guest soloist for the opening concert of the inaugural Qingdao Jimo International Ethnic Music Festival.
